Celebrate the vibrant culture and customs of Pakistan! With both traditional and modern performances, a fashion show, henna, food, and more, come experience and learn more about the diversity of Pakistan, the different regions, and its people. Proceeds from this event will go to The Citizens Foundation, which provides quality education to children in urban slums and rural areas in Pakistan. One or the Other, Never Both: The Struggle of being Queer and South Asian
7pm ǀ Marvin Center, Room 407
Queer individuals within the South Asian community have historically been ostracized and marginalized as a result of strict gender norms and cultural teachings. Currently, LGBTQIA+ South Asians struggle to operate and exist in various spaces because of modern-day homophobia and patriarchy. Please join us for a discussion on queer identity, sex and relationships with the larger GWU and DC community.
